Associate Director, IHS Upstream Consulting

Min Rao has brought over 20 years’ experiences specializing in oil and gas asset valuation, full scale field development planning and cost evaluation from exploration, appraisal, to production, as well as capital and operating cost planning and budgeting. During her tenure in IHS, she has interfaced with a wide range of clients, and performed such projects as asset valuation and financial due diligence for A&D and M&A activities, venture entry, bid round, and growth strategy, company benchmark analysis, opportunity screening and operation strategy on both conventional and unconventional plays. Min has particular expertise in commercial evaluation and entry strategy in M&A due Diligence.
Prior to joining IHS, Min was a Director, Economic Analysis at ATP Oil & Gas Co. Min performed economic and technical evaluation of oil and gas asset for acquisition, divestiture, and lending transactions, responsible for reserve reporting primarily in off shore shelf and deep water, FPSO construction finance and long-term project finance.
Min holds a Master of Science in Finance from University of Wyoming, USA and a BA in Material Engineering from Wuhan University of Science and Technology, China.

    • Asset Valuation, Due Diligence and Upstream Entry Strategy:? Performs due diligence pertaining to asset valuations, including type curve analysis, reserves assessment, development plans and capital budget evaluations, cost analysis and forecasting, marketing, and company financial analysis/comparison for assets within a number of North America unconventional plays and the Deep Water Gulf of Mexico; aiming to ultimately help clients make better business decisions on bid rounds and acquisitions
    • Company Benchmark Analysis: Conducts benchmarking analysis on key value drivers such as capital and operating cost, reserves, development plans and capital budgets in order to help clients understand marketing competitiveness and relative strengths and further provide insights on growing their strategy
    • Joint Venture Operation Evaluation: Reviews JOA and advises JV non-operating partners on how to make better business decisions on capital budgeting and development plans, including cash flow modeling, review of AFEs, and evaluation of join interest billing
    • Reserve Evaluation and Reporting: Organize and coordinate with third party consultant to generate reserve report for SEC filing, including providing the data needed for the determination of reserves. Perform reservoir technical evaluation and generate quarterly reserve report/cash flow to finance and accounting departments for financial reporting and lender finance compliance purpose.
    • Project Finance and Company Financial Analysis:? Lead in negotiating with Chinese financial institution in an effort to acquire long-term project finance for company’s new build deep water FPSO and short-term construction finance to improve company’s working capital.
